Hormozi's best Reels, decoded.
Alex Hormozi (@hormozi), founder of Acquisition.com and author of $100M Offers, posts some of the most-watched business advice on Instagram: his median Reel gets about 380K plays. We pulled his latest 200 Reels, transcribed every one with speech, and had Jev label each script on eight dimensions: hook, structure, opening, evidence, emotion, advice, topic and call to action. Then we compared the labels against his plays. Here is what the data says, and what it doesn't.

His best Reels aren't about business
Mindset 576K vs business 349K median plays · 23 of his top 34 Reels are life advice
Business and marketing make up 102 of his 167 decoded scripts, but his top fifth is mostly life advice: mindset, habits, money and relationships. The buy nothing challenge, living your 20s, the shame of rejection, a 22-year-old whose girlfriend hates how much he works. Mindset Reels reach a median of 576K plays and habits 704K, against 349K for business and 374K for marketing. The business advice builds his authority; the life advice is what travels.
Limits: Topic is tangled with delivery: his life-advice Reels also lean on opinions and direct openings, so we can't fully separate the topic effect from how he says it.
Try this: Take one lesson from your work and say it as a life rule. "How I price offers" becomes "why cheap things cost you more."

Tell them what to do, don't tell a story
Instruction openings 862K · story openings 304K median plays
Reels that open by telling you to do something ("If you're poor, try the buy nothing challenge") are his strongest opening by far, at more than double his plain claims (403K, 99 Reels). Reels that open on a story ("there was a roofer who came here...") are his weakest. He gets to the point in the first sentence and lets the explanation follow.
Limits: Only 10 instruction openings, so treat the size of the gap as directional. The story-opening result (17 Reels) is more solid.
Try this: Rewrite your first line as a dare or an instruction, under fifteen words. If the story matters, move it to the second sentence.

FAQ
How was this analysis made?
We collected his latest 200 public Instagram Reels, transcribed the 167 that contain real speech, and had Jev (a typed AI judgment model) label each transcript on eight dimensions. Jev only reads the words, never the view counts. We then compared median plays across the labels.
Is this affiliated with Alex Hormozi?
No. This is an independent analysis of publicly available Reels. We only quote short opening lines and link to the original posts.
Do these patterns cause more views?
Not necessarily. These are medians within one account, with no significance testing. They are patterns worth testing on your own content, not proof of what causes reach.
Independent analysis of public Reels by AI Topia, not affiliated with Hormozi. Data as of October 3, 2026: 200 Reels collected, 167 with speech decoded, 33 without speech skipped. Plays and likes change over time.
